Workforce Development & Culture

Building Careers. Strengthening Communities.

As a family-owned company guided by the Triple Bottom Line: People, Planet, and Profit, we invest in programs that create real opportunity, strengthen our workforce, and support long-term success for both our team and our customers.

This commitment shows up in how we hire, how we train, and how we build a culture where people can grow.

Welfare to Career

Since 1999, Cascade Engineering’s Welfare to Career program has helped individuals transition from public assistance into stable, meaningful careers.

800+ people have moved into long-term employment through this program, many building careers that continue to grow within our organization.

This is a long-standing investment in people that has improved retention, strengthened our workforce, and been recognized as a model replicated across the country.

Welfare to Career includes:

  • Entry-level opportunities with clear growth paths
  • On-the-job training and mentorship
  • Built-in support systems for long-term success

Supporting Returning Citizens

We believe in second chances. That’s why Cascade Engineering actively hires returning citizens, individuals re-entering the workforce after a period of incarceration, and gives them a real opportunity to build a career.

Once hired, individuals decide whether to share their story. Some do. Some don’t. What matters is that everyone is given a fair opportunity to succeed.

  • No criminal history questions on initial applications
  • Hiring decisions based on potential and readiness to work
  • A workplace culture built on respect and accountability

Building an Anti-Racist Organization

Cascade Engineering is committed to being an anti-racist organization. This means actively identifying and addressing how race and bias can impact individuals, systems, and outcomes within our business.

This work is ongoing. It requires accountability and a willingness to grow, but it strengthens our culture and the way we work together.

Our commitment includes:

  • Encouraging open, respectful conversations about race
  • Identifying and addressing inequities within our organization
  • Continuously learning and improving as a team

Cascade Engineering was named a Credentialed Partner by Partners for a Racism Free Community, the highest level of certification, and was the only manufacturer in Michigan to receive this designation.

Cascade Engineering is an anti-racism organization. Cascade Engineering defines being an anti-racism organization as creating an environment where all employees regardless of race or the color of their skin know they are valued. We acknowledge that racism can be unconscious or unintentional and identifying racism as an issue does not automatically mean those involved in the act are racist or intended the negative impact. As an anti-racism organization we will purposefully identify, discuss and challenge issues of race and color and the impact(s) they have on the organization, its systems, and its people. We will also challenge ourselves to understand and correct any inequities we may discover within Cascade Engineering and gain a better understanding of ourselves during this purposeful process. Being an anti-racism organization is a journey and it is the learning along the way that makes this work worth all of our efforts.
