Cascade
Engineering Announces Neighborhood Recycling Center
GRAND
RAPIDS, Michigan, April 20, 2005, - As an organization,
Cascade Engineering has always been committed to improving
the community and environment of West Michigan. On April
22nd, nationally recognized as “Earth Day”, that commitment
extends even further, as Cascade offers community members a
new recycling center and another reason to help reduce
waste.
The
recycling center, located in Cascade Engineering’s East
Plant lobby, will be open to the public beginning on Earth
Day at 6 a.m. The center is part of the Company’s commitment
to the Michigan Voluntary Protection Program (MVPP), a
partnership designed to encourage worksites to implement
systems to manage environmental practices and stewardship.
“The
neighborhood recycling program is an extension of our
organizational values,” said Kelley Losey, Manager of Safety
& Environmental Services of Cascade Engineering. “We’ve
always sought new ways to improve our internal environmental
programs, but we also like to extend the opportunity into
our community. Recycling not only results in cost savings
for the community, it also benefits the environment and
re-uses everyday items typically tossed out with the trash.”
The Cascade
Engineering recycling center is open to the public during
normal business hours and the following items can be donated
or recycled:
For more
than 30 years, Cascade Engineering has emphasized
sustainable business practices, investing equally in social,
environmental and financial capital. The Company has
received many environmental stewardship awards, including
several Clean Corporate Citizen Awards from the Michigan
Department of Environmental Quality. In February, Cascade
Engineering received an Environmental Stewardship Award from
the Society of Plastics Engineers at the 2005 Global
Plastics Environmental Conference in Atlanta.
