Cascade
Engineering Among Finalists for 'Best Medium Company to Work
for in America' at National Human Resource Conference
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Cascade
Engineering has always been committed to investing in
employees, the environment and innovation in manufacturing.
The Company's continued investment in employees was
recognized today when Cascade Engineering was cited as one
of the "Best Medium Companies to Work for in America."
The honor was announced on June 28th before 12,000 human
resource (HR) professionals at the Society for Human
Resource Management's (SHRM) 56th Annual Conference &
Exposition in New Orleans, held from June 27-30, 2004. SHRM
is the world's largest association devoted to human resource
management, and represents more than 185,000 individual
members.
Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Cascade Engineering was selected,
along with 24 other mid-sized companies and 25 small
companies, to attend the SHRM conference and participate in
the awards ceremony. Cascade Engineering ranked 8th
out of 400 total nominated companies and the top 25
attending medium-sized businesses.
"Simply being invited to this event and placing in the top
25 is a tremendous honor," said Mike Goldman, the Cascade
Engineering vice president of business services. "We pride
ourselves on successful community programs and effective
employee empowerment, with the constant goal of continually
improving our company at every level. This award validates
our commitment to one of our most important assets -- our
family of employees."
This year marks the launch of the list, which ranks the top
25 small and top 25 medium companies in America that have
used smart people management strategies to develop a strong
trust between employees and management.
The award, a joint endeavor with Great Place to Work®
Institute, Inc. (GPTWI), a research and management
consultancy that produces FORTUNE's "100 Best Companies to
Work For"©, was determined from over 400 nominations, with
organizations nominated ranging in size from 50 to 999
employees.
"Our commitment to the community and to our employees has
always been a fundamental part of our business," said Fred
Keller, Cascade Engineering founder and chief executive
officer. "This award is not the end of our efforts, but a
piece of our continued work in educating, developing and
valuing the employees and families that make up Cascade
Engineering."
Winners were selected based on the results of a randomly
distributed employee opinion survey. Each evaluated company
was given a score based on employees' responses to a
detailed questionnaire about the organizations' workplace
cultures. Companies also responded to a cultural audit which
consisted of nine detailed questions about company
attitudes, values and practices.
GPTWI cofounder Robert Levering said, "The companies on this
list set the standards for all workplaces. They show that
companies can become successful by creating an environment
where employees trust their management, have pride in their
work and have positive relationships with their coworkers."
