Noble Polymers, Industry Leaders to Present Breakthrough Technology at Nanocomposites 2004

GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan, March 16, 2004 – Representatives from Noble Polymers, a Grand Rapids, Mich.-based leader in high-performance resin compounds and plastics solutions, will present to a contingent of nanocomposite industry leaders at the third annual Nanocomposites international conference in Belgium.

The conference, held in Brussels on March 17 & 18th, brings together many of the world's leading nanocomposite suppliers in Europe. In addition to Noble Polymers, Nanocomposites 2004 will feature speakers from Procter & Gamble, Dow Chemical, Toyota Technological Institute and the United States Army.

Tim Patterson, head of Noble Polymers, and Taher Abujoudeh, Director of Materials Engineering at Cascade Engineering, will present information on the commercialization of polypropylene-based nanocomposites. Patterson and Abujoudeh will specifically highlight the success of Forte™, a polypropylene-based nanocomposite used in automotive, furniture and appliance applications introduced by Noble Polymers in 2003.

“Nanocomposites 2004 provides us with a wonderful platform to present the results and performance we've been able to achieve with Forte,” said Tim Patterson of Noble Polymers. “We are focused on technology that impacts our molders, OEMs and customers, providing new solutions to meet their needs.”

Engineered at a molecular level, Forte was developed to offer superior mechanical properties, as well as improved quality and reduced visual defects. Forte also offers plastic molders enhanced “green” qualities, with improved recycleability and reduced amounts of filler content.

Forte is designed to serve as a substitute for resins that contain large amounts of fillers such as glass, or where the performance advantages of the nanocomposite are required. The Company said that Forte results in lower part weights and enhanced properties and delivering a solution that revolutionizes the product's initial design process.
