Cascade Engineering Intranet Site Wins Major National
Award

RAPIDS, Michigan –Cascade Engineering has been awarded the
APEX 2001 Award of Excellence in the intranet category for
its work on the company intranet, ACE (At Cascade
Engineering), which the company launched in November, 2000.
APEX 2001 – the 13th Annual Awards for Publication
Excellence – is an international competition that recognizes
outstanding publications from newsletters and magazines to
annual reports, brochures and Web sites.
Cascade Engineering was one of only eight companies in the
United States to earn this award. According to the APEX 2001
judges, "The awards were based on excellence in graphic
design, editorial content and the success of the entry in
achieving overall communications effectiveness and
excellence."
Mike Goldman, vice president of business services for
Cascade Engineering, said a broad group of team members gave
ACE its award-winning qualities. ACE Team members include
Jill Ainsworth, Dan Bustraan, Traci Douglas, Cyndi Higgons,
Bill Place, Mike Prins, Jessica Rowley and Tad Smedes.
“Their hard work and efforts to continuously improve ACE as
the main vehicle for communication and information sharing
are what made this award possible,” Goldman said.
The APEX Awards for Publication Excellence is an annual
competition for writers, editors, publications staff and
business and nonprofit communicators. It is sponsored by
Communications Concepts, Inc., publishers of business
communication reports, including Writing That Works,
a subscription monthly for professional communicators, and
special reports on topics such as Writing for the WEB.
In the thirteenth Apex Awards, awards were given in 97
communications categories, in 11 main categories including:
newsletters; magazines and journals; magapapers and
newspapers; annual reports; brochures, manuals and reports;
video and electronic publications; Web and intranet sites;
campaigns, programs and plans; writing; design and
illustration; and special publications.
