TECHNOLOGY

Since 1973, Cascade Cart Solutions has been an industry leader in technology and innovation. Cascade has an in-house engineering team that has developed and designed containers that meet the rigorous demands of solid waste and recycling systems. Our engineering team is continuously working on improvements and product enhancements to so we can bring the best and most durable products to the marketplace.

Beyond the design and performance of the containers, we have continued to expand on technology and innovation. Two key strides in the technology area are the development of the EcoCart™ using co-injection technology and the development of the SmartCart™ using RFID technology. Both technologies have enabled our customers to bring value to their operations as well as their resident communities.

In addition to containers, Cascade offers technology for the back of the truck. Everything from the lifter that picks up the container, to the scanner and software that register the pick up of each container, we can design the system to meet your operational needs and objectives.

RFID / Smart Cart™
SmartCart ™, by Cascade Cart Solutions, offers a new solution to data collection.

technology

Cascade’s “smart” waste containers emit radio signals that enable an electronic reader to collect key data on the container’s use. The new carts combine the company’s expertise in engineered plastics systems with a technology known as radio frequency identification, or RFID, which has gained popularity in a number of other applications, including EZ Pass for toll collection, a variety of door entry systems, pallet tagging, and livestock tracking. The benefits from this new container technology include:

  • More effective maintenance - Automated data collection creates a “container history” that prompts for maintenance or replacement.
  • Ease of use - The tags are easy to program, can be read from a distance of up to 15 feet, and don’t need to be within the line of sight.
  • Security - Because the tag is embedded in the container material, it is virtually tamper proof. In addition, each container has its own unique code, which makes it easy to track and reduces the possibility of loss or theft.

Co-Injection

coinjection
In 2007, Cascade Engineering introduced the EcoCart™ to address the growing demand from the solid waste and recycling industry for products containing recycled content.

Co-Injection is the process of injecting two separate materials into the same mold which allows one polymer to be encapsulated by another, one forming the skin, the other forming the core. The multi-layer plywood effect maintains product integrity and performance while allowing for the maximum recycled material content in the industry. Our Co-injection technology allows Cascade to use the maximum amount of recycled material in our product without compromising the quality. The multi-layer effect maintains product integrity and performance. Simple blending of recycled material into virgin resin compromises the performance of the product. All of our products produced with recycled material meet and exceed all applicable ANSI standards for performance and safety.

Back of Truck
Cascade Engineering offers a fully integrated system for your collection needs. From the RFID tag on each container, to the readers that register the container, and the software that turns data into information, we provide a complete solution for your needs. The weight of the container can also be recorded and allows for measurement recycling as well as landfill diversion.
