Cascade Engineering, Inc. respects the privacy of our customers, applicants, and employees.  We at Cascade Engineering are committed to providing responsible privacy protection of personally identifiable data that we receive, maintain, and use in our company.  Cascade Engineering follows the Safe Harbor principles that are published by the US Department of Commerce.  The following discloses the privacy principles in addition to information about gathering, storing, and using personal data.

Scope of This Privacy Policy
This Safe Harbor Data Privacy Policy applies only to Cascade Engineering as it relates to the management of personal information.  Personal information in this policy refers to information that is transferred from the European Union to the United States, is about a specific individual, and can be linked to that individual.  It does not include information that pertains to a specific individual, but that individual can not be identified.

Although our website may provide links to other websites, those websites are not covered by this privacy policy.

Types of Information We Collect
Cascade Engineering maintains and uses personal information that is used in the employment relationship.  The primary purpose is to provide the individual with payroll and benefits services.  Other purposes include compliance with governmental regulations and tax payment and reporting. This information includes, but is not limited to:  name, salary, gender, date of birth, marital status, race, home address, home telephone number, social security number, benefit choices, dependent information, and tax information.  

Transfer of Information
Cascade Engineering does not share personal information with third parties unless one or more of the following conditions is true:

  • We have the individual’s permission to make the disclosure;
  • The disclosure is required by law or mandatory professional standards;
  • The information is publicly available;
  • The disclosure is necessary for the establishment of legal claims;
  • The disclosure is to another entity providing a service for the individual on their behalf. Cascade Engineering will ensure that any third party provides the same privacy protection as afforded by this policy.    

Transfers of information may occur to and from the United States of America.

Choice
Cascade Engineering will inform the individual if we wish to disclose personal information to a third party not intended for employment purposes, and we will give the individual the choice to opt out.  However, if requested, we must disclose information to the government as required by law.

Cascade Engineering does not collect personal information, unless it is provided to us by completion of a written consent form, employment forms and questionnaires, or participation in a survey. 

Access/Data Integrity
Cascade Engineering strives to keep personal information accurate.  We will process personal information only in ways compatible with the purpose for which it was collected, or authorized by the individual.  If individuals are aware of any changes to personal information, the individual must contact the local Human Resources Representative or refer to the Contact Us section in this document.

Individuals may examine their personal information by making a written request. In some circumstances, we may charge a fee.  If the individual disagrees with the information or needs to update their personal information, the individual should discuss it with the Human Resources Representative.   If that doesn’t address the concern, the individual may write a statement explaining his or her position for inclusion in the file.  Only those individuals with a ‘need to know” will have access to personal information.

Security 
Cascade Engineering is committed to protecting personal information.  Any personally identifiable information that Cascade Engineering maintains is stored in password-protected, secure environments that can be accessed only by authorized personnel.  Cascade Engineering instructs all personnel who handle personally identifiable information to use appropriate privacy and security precautions when processing this information.  Any violations of security will be addressed with discipline up to and including termination.  Cascade Engineering cannot 100% guarantee the security of information transmitted via the internet.

Accountability and Enforcement
It is our intention to comply with all local data protection regulations worldwide, including the European Commission’s Directive on Data Privacy.  We will certify annually with the U.S. Department of Commerce that Cascade Engineering, Inc. is in compliance with the Safe Harbor Framework approved by the European Union.    Upon annual certification, we will conduct a self-assessment to ensure that we are complying with the safe harbor privacy principles.  Cascade Engineering supports the various local and national privacy laws, and will fully cooperate with enforcement agencies.  Compliance with the safe harbor framework demonstrates the adequate privacy protection required by the European Commission’s Directive.  We will fully cooperate with the European Union Data Protection Authorities when requested to do so.

Changing the Privacy Policy
Cascade Engineering reserves the right to modify this privacy policy at any time.
